Hello friends! Recently, hot pot has been becoming more and more popular. Since wintertime is upon us and the weather is getting chillier every day, I decided to visit one of my favorite hot pot places, Hot Pot City. The restaurant mixes Vietnamese, Taiwanese, and Korean traditional cooking together into their foods. The majority of your meal will be self served, the server will only come for soup base, drinks, and collecting plates.
After being seated, the server will ask if you would like regular or spicy soup base and what drinks you would like. Then the rest is up to you! At the back of the restaurant, there is a huge refrigerator with different vegetables, noodles, meat, and seafood. Pick whatever you would like to eat, take it back to your table, and start cooking! You can choose to eat our food with rice or noodles. The rice is unlimited and you can get it straight from the cooker in the back or the restaurant or you can buy a plate of noodles. In the middle of the table, there’s the bowl for the soup and a grill divided into six sections. You can grill your meat and seafood, or boil it in the broth. They provide little scoops of butter on little dipping plates for you to put on the grill if you choose to use it. Plates range from $2.95 to $5.95. You can eat as much as you want, or as much as you can afford.
All the condiments like soy sauce, Sriracha, and peanut sauce are in the refrigerator or on the table for you to enjoy. All of their dishes are high quality and very fresh! If you run out of soup base or would like a refill on your drink, just call the serve over and he or she will get it for you. You get to eat at your own pace and get more food when you are ready.
Hot Pot City is located in Westminster on Brookhurst and McFadden. It’s in between Coffee Factory and Saigon National Bank. Across the parking lot is Tebo Tebo Tea Lounge which Hannah wrote about below, so please check it out!
